Getting a professional to complete your tiling is of utmost importance, according to Troy Mountford.
Mr Mountford and his partner David Lyons don't say this lightly - the comment stems from a belief that tiles are forever and a botched job can be heartbreaking.
``Once tiles are laid, they are meant to be there forever," Mr Mountford said.
``If they make a mistake, they either have to live with it forever or pay a lot of money to get it fixed."
He said many people watched tilers at work and assumed they could do it.
``But, it takes 10 times as long and you can always tell if a professional has not done the work," Mr Mountford said.
Mr Lyons is from the Shoalhaven region and Mr Mountford from Wollongong, so they have the capacity to cover the region's market.
With concerns about health and the pursuit of an easier lifestyle, larger tiles were becoming increasingly popular, particularly in the loungeroom and hall areas.
``Bathroom and kitchen renovations are also the two things people look at when they buy a house and a lot of people moving in to a new home get the tiling and carpet laid before they move in," he said.
The partnership developed five years ago, but the tilers have more than 15 years' experience between them and offer an inclusive package, from showing sample tiles to renovations, to new premises. They also work in the commercial sector.
